Generative AI Policy

Contemporary Perspectives on Business and Organization (CPBO) recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) may support certain aspects of research and manuscript preparation. Its use must remain responsible, transparent, and subject to human oversight.

AI and Authorship

AI tools, including generative-AI systems and large language models, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authors retain full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of their work.

Disclosure of AI Use

Authors should disclose any substantive use of generative AI in preparing or developing a manuscript. Where relevant, the disclosure should state the AI tool or model used and its purpose. Routine spelling, grammar, formatting, and reference-management assistance generally does not require disclosure.

Author Responsibility

Authors must critically review and verify all AI-assisted content, including facts, data, references, citations, interpretations, and sources. AI must not be used to fabricate, falsify, or manipulate research data, results, references, images, or other evidence. Authors must also ensure compliance with applicable copyright, privacy, confidentiality, and research-ethics requirements.

AI in Peer Review and Editorial Processes

Reviewers and editors must maintain the confidentiality and integrity of submitted manuscripts and editorial materials. Confidential content must not be uploaded to public or unauthorised AI systems. Peer-review and editorial decisions must remain independent and cannot be delegated to AI.

AI-Generated Content and Images

Substantive use of AI to generate or modify text, images, datasets, code, or other research materials should be disclosed where it may affect the interpretation, originality, or reproducibility of the work. Authors remain responsible for ensuring that such material complies with applicable ethical, legal, copyright, and licensing requirements.

CPBO reserves the right to request clarification regarding AI use at any stage of submission, peer review, or publication and may update this policy in accordance with evolving research-integrity and scholarly-publishing standards.
