Plagiarism Policy
Contemporary Perspectives on Business and Organizations (CPBO) is committed to maintaining originality, responsible scholarship, and integrity in the published record. Plagiarism, duplicate publication, and other forms of inappropriate reuse are not acceptable.
Forms of Unacceptable Practice
CPBO considers the following breaches of publication integrity:
- Plagiarism - presenting another person's ideas, words, data, or work as one's own without appropriate acknowledgement.
- Self-plagiarism / inappropriate text recycling - reusing substantial portions of previously published work without appropriate disclosure and citation.
- Duplicate publication - publishing substantially the same research in more than one publication without legitimate justification or disclosure.
- Unattributed reproduction - reproducing substantial tables, figures, datasets, instruments, or other copyrighted material without proper acknowledgement or permission where required.
- Plagiarism through translation or paraphrasing - presenting translated or substantially reworded material from another source without appropriate attribution.
Author Responsibility
Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their submissions and for properly acknowledging all sources. Manuscripts should be checked carefully before submission, including quotations, paraphrased material, references, tables, figures, and previously published work by the authors themselves.
Use of generative-AI tools does not remove the author's responsibility for originality, attribution, accuracy, or integrity.
Handling Suspected Plagiarism
Where substantial similarity or suspected plagiarism is identified, the journal may:
- request an explanation or clarification from the authors;
- conduct additional editorial or expert assessment;
- reject the manuscript where the concern is substantiated;
- request correction or clarification in appropriate cases; or
- where misconduct is identified after publication, issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction as appropriate.
Authors bear all responsibility for ensuring their work follows the plagiarism policy and maintain liability for any non-compliance found at any stage, including after publication. All such cases are handled confidentially, fairly, and in accordance with recognized publication ethics principles.
