Trumpian Charisma and Leadership

Abstract

Charisma is a very interesting, but difficult phenomenon to define. What does charisma mean to individuals, groups and nations? Charisma is closely linked to leadership and the success of organizations. A charismatic figure is respected and valued leader. Charisma can increase or decrease. Charisma can be positive or negative depending on the perspective. This article discusses charisma as part of great man leadership. Donald Trump has been chosen as the subject of investigation because he is undoubtedly one of the most charismatic people of our time. Sociology, psychology, management science and business management theories form a functional framework for the study and analysis of Trump's charisma. The result of the examination is an enriched analysis and description of the different dimensions of charisma and an insight into Trumpian ideology through theories of charisma in relation to Trump's leadership.
