The recent worrying developments in the Western World and after some people’s urging, I return to the survey conducted 12 years ago regarding the management of students from different cultural backgrounds at the administrative level in the Regional Unit of Kavala, which covered 72% of the educational administrators. At that time, it became evident that the managers were over-eager to adopt methods and tools, implement programs, be trained in intercultural issues, reconfigure the timetable and school premises and make any other changes, in order to provide migrant children with the maximum opportunities for integration and progress. However, serious reservations were also expressed about the phenomenon of immigration itself, which was beginning to grow out of control, and distrust of the role played by the EU and the official bodies responsible for managing immigration policy. In this article we will examine 12 years after what remains unchanged from that multidimensional investigation, what has changed, which fears were unfounded and which are confirmed every day.
